My heart and heritage are deeply rooted in the foothills.
I am a proud descendant of a beautifully complex, multiracial Carmel Melungeon lineage, with my family story tracing back through the Appalachian ridges of Magoffin and Letcher counties in Eastern Kentucky. The true anchors of my family’s legacy are my two maternal great-grandmothers. Remarkably, both of these incredible women are 93 years old and still with us, serving as a living testament to the faith, resilience, and enduring spirit of the people who shaped me.
